Over the course of three decades, Roni L. Bond has dedicated herself to bettering the lives of young students as an educator of mathematics, special education, and athletics. She also provides math enrichment for second graders and coaches other teachers. Ms. Bond previously served as a special education teacher at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, an impactful nonprofit organization that stands as a “leader in the field of mental health care for children and their families,” a teacher at Floresville Independent School District, and launched her career as a special education, English, and math teacher at East Central Independent School District from 1991 to 2000.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Bond took time off from teaching between 2003 and 2012 to work as a hospital administrator for County Line Animal Hospital, where her father excelled as a veterinarian. She has been an associate with USANA Health Sciences since 2013, which researches, manufactures, and sells science-based supplements, skincare, personal care, and energy products. She is also active in her local women’s ministry and across craft shows as a sewing and embroidery artist.
Attributing her success to her lifelong passion for helping people, Ms. Bond was heavily inspired by her father, a mentor whom she looked up to “as her rock.” He was the first member of the family to earn a degree and worked tirelessly to achieve it. This inspired her to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business and special education from the University of the Incarnate Word, the largest Catholic University in her home state of Texas. She later bolstered her credentials as an educator with a Certification in English Language Learners and a Certification in Elementary Education from Montana State University in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Although she’s nearing retirement age, Ms. Bond intends to keep teaching for as long as possible and considers her most notable achievement throughout her career to be whenever she sees the “light bulb go in” in a student’s eyes when they finally understand her lesson.
